Twitter talk has hijacked eight of the last twelve conferences about making money with traffic exchanges I was part of. The only reason Twitter didn’t hijack eleven of the conferences is because the three conferences I held were declared Twitter Free Zones
Don’t get me wrong. Using social networking sites to drive traffic and create relationships is important but when you can right down to it, they are just other ways of driving traffic
And with everybody yapping about Twitter and Facebook, till my ears bleed, many newbies fall into the trap of they thinking if they drive even more traffic to some generic affiliate page they will finally get results.
WRONG
All the traffic in the world amounts to hill of beans if you don’t have a way of converting traffic into cold hard cash.
But really really gets my goat are all the people evangelizing about Twitter in conferences designed to help people make money with traffic exchanges
You are doing a great disservice to newbies by spreading the Twitter Gospel, especially to the few newbies who are taking the time to attend the conferences.
Sure, I know you may be bored when people keep going on about list building but the Affiliate Funnel Monday Conferences are for people who are just starting out.
New surfers want to learn how to make money with traffic exchanges. And it’s hard enough to convey the importance of promoting yourself first without people going on and on about how they use Twitter to get thousands of followers.
And you should know by now traffic exchanges are merely places where you fill your funnel with surfers.
The newbies need to know this too. Its the reason there are conferences in the first place.
What do you think of all this Twitter talk in the Affiliate Funnel conferences especially the Monday night beginners webinars? Post your thoughts below.

I absolutely agree Jerry. Whilst twitter is a great resource, it is not the great internet marketing panacea that it’s being touted as. Sure, it can be used as a soft tool to send people through your funnel but it is not the answer to all our prayers.
It’s a shame that the greatest minds in the TE industry assemble in one place and end up talking about something other than their area of expertise.
Time management and focus are hugely important to new marketers and digressing so far, so often is just a waste of everybody’s time.
Yo Jerr! Nice site.
Talking about Twitter in the AF conferences? I dunno. For me, the jury is still out on the benefits of Twitter and all this social stuff. Yes, it seems like a good idea and probably works but I wonder if the huge amount of time it takes couldn’t be better spent elsewhere.
As far as newbies go, I find the conferences often go beyond that level, be it about Twitter or anything else. I think it’s tough to stay on topic when so many noobs are too nervous to ask questions.
Hi Jerry.
The bottom line is social networking, traffic exchange marketing, blog marketing, etc. is great for branding but it is also important to stay on topic during conference calls such as AF helping beginners.
It all comes down to focus.
I love it all, Facebook, Twitter, Traffic Exchanges, etc., but I also know what my goals are and I maintain a focus towards that goal. The best way of doing that is not letting myself get overrun with too much guru noise.
I guess I can see your point because newbies could definitely be overwhelmed when you get off the topic of traffic exchanges and how to use them.

I agree Jerry. People in general always think the grass is greener on the other side. Me personally have not made the conference yet but I’ve been listening to the archives. I think the conference should be led by business at hand and agenda, that way the newbie won’t be mislead with incorrect info.
